Join the Indiana Construction Roundtable (ICR) as it kicks off its 2025 educational programming with the annual “State of Construction” event focusing on the outlook for the construction industry in 2025

This event will allow attendees to hear about state and national trends and provide realistic solutions to overcome these complexities. Matt Gierke of FMI Corporation will share his insights on key industry trends and challenges as well as provide a forecast for the U.S. Construction Industry. Dr. Philip Powell, associate dean of academic programs at IU Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis, will provide a local perspective on the economy and share recommendations for how to best position your company for the year ahead.

The State of Construction will be held Wednesday, February 19 at Indiana Landmarks, 1201 Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Registration and networking opens at 7:30 a.m. The program will run from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. and include time for Q & A. Don’t miss this informative session.

Matt Gierke, FMI Corporation

Matt is a consultant with FMI Corporation. Matt works with contractors, construction equipment and materials manufacturers, and distributors to drive future growth, profitability and improvement. Matt specializes in market strategy, change management, business development and project management.

Prior to joining FMI, Matt was an internal strategy consultant and project manager at a market-leading Fortune 100 manufacturer of heavy equipment. During this time, Matt was responsible for development and implementation of a diverse range of projects, from incentivizing and managing distributors to entering new markets and executing large capital improvements. Matt also spent seven years as a manager of complex capital projects within the steel industry.


Phil Powell, IU Kelley School of Business

Phil Powell is the associate dean of academic programs and a clinical associate professor of business economics and public policy at IU Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis. He previously served as faculty chair of the full-time and online MBA programs at Indiana University in Bloomington. Both programs saw an increase in national rankings under Powell’s leadership.

Powell joined the Kelley School as an Indianapolis faculty member in 1996. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Vanderbilt University and his undergraduate degree in economics from the University of South Carolina.
